These are the COVID-Secure measures GreenRoomCollective are putting in place to keep our leaders, students and families safe:

COVID-19 risk assessment. We have completed an extensive risk-assessment for returning to live classes at this time, and have shared it with our assistant leaders.

Cleaning & Hygiene. Hand sanitiser (organic, vegan and refillable - so we can look after our planet at the same time as ourselves!) will be available to all GRC staff and students upon entering and exiting a class. We will be cleaning as necessary between each class. Antibacterial wipes (100% biodegradable in-keeping with our eco pledge) will be available to students in the unlikely event that they should be required to clean down any surface or item they have used during a class. Leaders will also be cleaning any high touch point areas/ surfaces. In addition, our halls are being cleaned between each hirer.

Temperature Checks. All staff and students will have their temperature taken upon arrival, before entering the venue. Any member of staff or student displaying a temperature of 37.5°C or above will not be admitted to class.

Face coverings. Parents/carers and students aged 11+ are encouraged to wear a face covering when arriving/departing/ dropping off/ collecting from a GRC activity. Please be mindful and respectful that some people are less able to wear face coverings, and the reasons for this may not be visible to others. Staff and students will not be required to wear face coverings during class, due to exemptions stated in government guidance:

  • children under the age of 11 (Public Health England does not recommend face coverings for children under the age of 3 for health and safety reasons)

  • to avoid harm or injury, or the risk of harm or injury, to yourself or others ‒ including if it would negatively impact on your ability to exercise or participate in a strenuous activity

  • if you are undertaking exercise or an activity and it would negatively impact your ability to do so

Staff will be wearing masks as we arrive and depart the venue, and in between classes as we welcome the students/ return them to you.

Social distancing. Staff and students will remain socially distanced throughout their class, aided by floor markers 2+ meters apart. Parents/carers will not be permitted to enter the hall. Please wait outside the hall at a distance of 2+ metres from other people before and after your child’s class. There will be different doors for entering and exiting the halls. We will come to the door to welcome the students in, and return them to you one by one from the door at the end of their class. It is essential that you maintain social distancing throughout.

Increased ventilation. Doors and windows will be open throughout classes where possible and safe, to increase ventilation.

Rapid Testing. Your class teacher will be taking a Lateral Flow Device COVID-19 test twice a week. Find out more about LFD tests available for free.

Supporting NHS Test and Trace. We will be keeping a ‘Test and Trace’ compliant log of everyone attending our classes. You are welcome to scan the Test & Trace QR Code at the hall, in addition. Please tell us if a student receives a positive COVID-19 PCR test.

DO NOT ATTENDyour GRC activity if

  • you or your child have one or more coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms

  • a member of your household (including someone in your support bubble or childcare bubble, if you have one) has coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms

  • you are legally required to quarantine, having recently visited countries outside the common travel area

  • a member of your household has had a positive test

  • your child has been told to self-isolate

Should your child begin to display COVID-19 symptoms during their GRC activity they will need to return home. Please be prepared to collect them immediately.

    • Punctuality is essential. Please arrive five minutes prior to the start of your activity and be ready to collect your child five minutes before the end of their activity. This is essential to maintaining our COVID-secure measures. Late collection of your child will delay the start of the next class!

  • WATER.

    • Please bring your own, named water bottle to class. This is all that is permitted, with the exception of any necessary medicines, a mobile phone where it is essential, coats where it is not possible for it to be left with a parent/carer. Where these additional items are required at a GRC activity, please ensure they are in a bag.

    • Please ensure that your child has been to the toilet as soon as is possible prior to arriving at their activity. This will help to reduce movement within the venue.

    • Please ensure that your child has everything with them when they depart their activity. Left items cannot be placed in lost property. Therefore, any item left at the hall will be immediately removed and disposed of.

Please remember to tell us in advance if your child is being collected by someone other than yourself.

As ever, we are happy to talk with you should you have any urgent questions or information you wish to provide us with at drop off or pick up. At drop off, please wait for all of the present students to have entered the hall first. At pick up, please wait until you have reached the front of the line. Given the circumstances, it would be most helpful if you could email or phone instead where possible.

If your child is joining us for the first time we will be sure to say hello and have a chat with you together before the start of their class. Please prepare them in advance for joining in their class without you. You are welcome to wait outside, nearby for the duration. We will do everything to reassure them and ensure they have an enjoyable class. If you have any questions or wish to talk to me in advance please don’t hesitate to call - 07743 111 344.

I appreciate that these measures have the potential to be more time consuming than usual; please remember that they are keeping you, your child and the GRC team safe and healthy - and allowing us to get back to live classes! If we are punctual and work together we can have everyone in and out swiftly and safely. Thank you in advance for your patience.
